Nursery rhymes, counting rhymes, games

The wealth of folklore literature allows you to choose nursery rhymes, tongue twisters, and counting rhymes for reading. They are indispensable in various games and help the child fall in love with their native speech and get acquainted with the customs of their people.

While reading, children, under the guidance of their parents, make a variety of movements that contribute to physical development. Imitating words improves children's mood, develops emotions, attention, hearing, speech memory, and also contributes to the development of a sense of rhythm, speed of reaction, awakens fantasy and imagination. Fairy tales for kids

At the age of two, a child already understands the meaning of simple fairy tales with a short and simple plot. These works develop thinking and memory. Books for a 2-year-old child are often structured in the form of dialogue, this helps him learn to talk faster. Many kids like to reread the same fairy tale they liked; parents should be understanding about this. Children love to listen to an already familiar text and then retell its content. The following books are recommended to be read by a child aged 2 years:

Good illustrations in a book are very important for children, with the help of which they can build a sequence of plot. Pictures help to perceive text, develop artistic taste and also help to instill a love of reading.

Works about animals

In them, animals personify human qualities (kindness, stupidity, greed, greed, cunning). Fairy tales condemn negative qualities - this is their moral and educational value. For the most part, these are picture books, where small text is accompanied by visual information (photography).

Acquaintance with such literature broadens a child’s horizons, develops cognitive activity and fosters a love for animals.

List of educational books for children 2−3 years old:

Funny and sad, calm and playful books build spiritual strength, develop a sense of beauty and harmony, form an attitude towards the world around us, and teach it to perceive it correctly. We hope that with our tips you will easily select books for children 2-3 years old (we plan to update and supplement the list).

I’ve been meaning to write for a long time about the books we read from 2 to 3 years old. But writing the article was constantly postponed, as something new and interesting constantly appeared in our library. As a result, I have accumulated so many favorite books that it is no longer possible to put them in one article. Therefore, I divided our list of books into several parts - works by foreign authors.

Recently, Russian publishing houses have begun to translate modern hits of foreign children's literature with great zeal. And of course, among the worthwhile works, those that are not of such great value for young readers are also translated. I hope this list will at least help you a little in deciding on the choice of foreign books for your baby.

So, books for children 2-3 years old (what we didn’t like, I don’t include in this list):

  • D. Donaldson "The Gruffalo" (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop)

I'll start with the world-famous writer - Julia Donaldson. In Russia, her books became especially popular in combination with magnificent illustrations by Axelle Scheffler and translation by Marina Boroditskaya.

So, “The Gruffalo” is a fairy tale about a little mouse who, at first glance, was easy prey for hungry predators, was able to outwit them all, including the most terrible monster - the Gruffalo. The moral of the book is that even if you are small and weak, if you use your wits, you can easily defeat those who are bigger and stronger than you.

The plot is quite accessible to a 2 year old child. And it’s hard to remain indifferent to the cute monster Gruffalo; I think it was thanks to his charm that the book was among my daughter’s favorites for a long time.

  • D. Donaldson "The Gruffalo's Daughter" (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop)

It seemed to me that this book is a little harder for a child to perceive than the first part. And if “The Gruffalo” can be safely read to a child from the age of 2, then “Little Daughter” should be postponed until at least 2.5 years. However, the tale is no less interesting than the first part. The mouse once again amazes with its resourcefulness.

On top of everything else, this book brings out another useful idea - you shouldn’t go far without asking your parents, it can be dangerous.

  • D. Donaldson “If the house is crowded” (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop)

Well, I personally really like this masterpiece (although my daughter’s attitude towards this book is much calmer than, moreover, “The Gruffalo”). The book is filled with optimism, because the main idea in it is “Never whine, but appreciate what you have.”

The old woman lived in a small house, and although she had everything to be happy, she was always dissatisfied with life and the size of her house. This continued until a kind sage advised her to invite a chicken into the house first, and then a goat, a pig, and a cow. Naturally, having lived with such neighbors, she finally appreciated the delights of her former life.

Thus, the book is useful reading for both children and parents!

  • D. Donaldson "Snail and Whale" (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop)

Another work by the inimitable trio Donaldson, Shefler and Boroditskaya. It has everything: magnificent illustrations, a pleasant style, and a story about courage and ingenuity. This time the main character is a small snail, who, contrary to the advice of her stay-at-home friends, went on a trip around the world, and in addition to seeing the whole world, she also saved her huge friend the whale, showing unprecedented intelligence. According to my ratings, this book is 2.5+.

  • D. Donaldson "Riding the Broom" (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop)

Judging by the reviews, some believe that this book is noticeably inferior compared to Donaldson’s other masterpieces, because there is a different translator. Taisiya and I have to disagree with this opinion, because... We read the book thoroughly and we really liked it. Yes, perhaps the translation is not always as smooth as we would like, but the magnificent story of friendship and mutual assistance has not suffered at all. And my daughter quickly memorized the poems - so they weren’t so bad

  • Brothers Grimm "Musicians of Bremen" (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop)

Taisiya has been a fan of the cartoon of the same name for quite a long time, so it was also decided to purchase the book. To my daughter’s surprise, the plot of the printed version differs significantly from the cartoon; there is neither the Troubadour nor the Princess. We can say that this fairy tale is a prehistory to the cartoon, because it tells how friends met and became musicians.

The book does not have the positive and festive atmosphere that reigns in the cartoon. Here, on the contrary, you can feel the boundless melancholy of the heroes - they were all cruelly rejected by their former owners and went into the unknown in search of a new life. The mood of the characters is very well conveyed through the wonderful pastel illustrations of Igor Oleinikov. I believe that for a child’s emotional development, he needs books with different moods, and therefore the book will take its rightful place in the child’s library.

There are other very good editions of The Bremen Town Musicians, for example, Here or Here.

  • Brothers Grimm "Little Men" (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop)

There are books with morality, and there are books with magic. This one certainly belongs to the second category; reading it, you plunge headlong into a fairy tale. Little people come to the aid of a shoemaker whose business has gone very badly. Every night they sew boots for him, and they do it so well that the shoemaker’s boots are in great demand, and business is going well. It seems that you can look at the extraordinary little people in the absolutely extraordinary illustrations of Anton Lomaev endlessly. They work so together with an awl, a hammer, and scissors that it is simply mesmerizing.

The book is ideal for a two-year-old child: there is not much text, but the pictures have a lot of interesting details that attract kids so much.

  • Hans Christian Andersen "The Princess and the Pea" (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop)

Another magical book from the artist Anton Lomaev. The ratio of text and pictures is suitable for a 2 year old child. The plot of the fairy tale is simple and, I think, everyone knows. And the illustrations will speak for themselves.

  • A. Preisen “About a kid who could count to ten” (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop)

This and the following tale are often published in collections, united by Suteev’s illustrations, for example, in like this (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop). But since these stories were not in our collection, I bought them separately. And I didn’t regret it at all. Both stories are very bright and kind, from my childhood. The first one, about a kid, will help the baby master ordinal counting. The moral of the second story, about the little raccoon, can be expressed something like this: “Smile at the world, and then it will smile back at you.”

Suteev’s drawings need no introduction, they are amazing, as always.

  • L. Muur “Little raccoon and the one who sits in the pond” (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop)

  • L. Clinting "Castor" (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop)

The series about the beaver Castor is quite large, since Castor willingly takes on any task: he sews, bakes pies, and takes care of plants... This series is something like the very first and most simplified encyclopedia about the world around us, only in artistic form. We have two books from this series - “ Castor bakes a pie" And " Castor's vegetable garden" My daughter likes both of them. The books describe in an accessible form the process of making a pie/caring for plants and name the main components of the process. And in general, everything in this book is good - both the pictures and the educational side; I don’t like, perhaps, only the very small amount of text on each spread. Still, a child’s interest in such topics awakens after 2.5 years, closer to 3, and at this time the child can already digest significantly more text than 2 lines on a page. We have to additionally think out the text for the author.

Still, I find the Castor series very useful. Lately, my daughter has developed a great interest in cooking, and I think the book “Castor Bakes a Pie” played an important role in this.

  • Z. Miler, E. Petishka, G. Doskolova " Mole. Big Book» (Ozon, My-shop, Read) And " Mole. Stories in pictures» (Ozon, My-shop, Read)

It so happened that Taisiya had not watched the famous cartoon about Krotik, so the books came in handy for her. But I think those who are already familiar with Mole from cartoons will also like the book. The book, of course, has its advantages: firstly, it is a cartoon without words; unlike a book, nothing is explained to the little viewer; secondly, there is no room for imagination in the cartoon, because... you need to have time to catch all the video sequences.

The stories in this book, although long, are quite simple; it seems to me that they are just right for instilling perseverance in a child while reading. All the pictures here are taken from the cartoon, there are a lot of them in the book. The only thing that bothers me about this edition is the noticeable smell of paint, but the book is very worthy and worth reading to your child many times.

  • D. Kulot “Little crocodile and big love” (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop)

A very funny and simply charming book about love that knows no barriers! The crocodile and the giraffe love each other very much, but they have one problem - a height difference of 2 meters 43 centimeters. But this does not stop them, they still want to be together. They tried to arrange their family life both in the crocodile’s small house (but there the giraffe kept banging its head on the ceiling) and in the giraffine’s big house (but even there life became impossible for the crocodile). And when everyday life began to take its toll on their relationship, they nevertheless came up with and implemented together a very bold and unusual solution to their problem.

The book shows a child (and a parent) an excellent example of tolerance, teaches that loving people, even if they are very different, can always find a solution to their problems and become happy with a little effort.

The illustrations in the book are beyond praise, but again, in my opinion, the text is not enough. You have to add a lot on your own in order to maintain the child’s interest. There are other stories in this series: Crocodile and Giraffe - a real couple in love, Little crocodile with a big heart, but based on the description and reviews, I chose this one and did not regret it.

  • Jacob Martin Street "Mimbo-Jimbo" (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop)

The books in the Mimbo-Jimbo series are more entertaining than educational. The pictures are very simple, there is little text. But it’s not all about reading educational books; you can also have fun sometimes! Book " Mimbo-jimbo“My daughter really liked it; during her first readings, she sincerely laughed almost from beginning to end. We also purchased "", but I think it was quite possible to stop at one book.

In general, books from this series may come in handy later, when the child learns to read on his own, since there is little text, it is written large, and the plot is funny, this will motivate the child to read.

  • Chisato Tashiro "House of Mouse" (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop)

Left without their home, five little mice went in search of a suitable place for a new home. In the end, they ended up in a city dump, where they decided to build their new home from piles of things thrown away by people.

The book wonderfully develops a child's imagination, because... from it the baby learns about what things familiar to us can turn into. For example, a mitten can become a crib, and a mug can become a bath for a mouse. Bicycle wheels can be used to make a Ferris wheel, and if you turn a chair over, you can create a roof. And there are a lot of such examples here. You can look at the book for a long time, finding more and more new details.

  • D. McKee "Elmer" (Ozon, Labyrinth, My-shop)

Elmer the Elephant has long been popular all over the world. I can’t say that this book was a hit with us, but both me and my daughter certainly liked it, since the story in it is quite interesting and instructive. The main idea that the author wants to convey to the child is that you should not strive to become like everyone else, nothing good will come of it anyway, and if it does, you will lose the most valuable thing - your individuality. This is exactly what the cheerful Elmer, a checkered elephant who could not come to terms with ordinary gray everyday life, proved. The elephant is really very cute, you want to look at it, name the colors of its cells, and have fun with it.

We live in the age of computerization and nanotechnology, but the spiritual and moral values of people remain the same. Books can help parents instill good qualities in their little child and teach him correct behavior. The choice of books should be made by parents carefully so that the reading process becomes not only enjoyable, but also useful. This article examines the 30 best books that are recognized as bestsellers among children's audiences.

Works by V. Suteev for children 2-3 years old

"Under the mushroom"

Viktor Suteev, taking as a basis the traditional plot of the Russian folk tale “Teremok”, gave his story a slightly different frame and made it more touching. The situation described in the fairy tale certainly teaches children goodness. The animals are forced to huddle under a small fungus, hiding from the weather. Moreover, everyone is ready to move to save a comrade. The plot is also sharpened by the sudden appearance of a fox hunting a bunny. “In cramped conditions, but do not be offended,” says the basic wisdom of the fairy tale. An interesting point is that the author himself made a corresponding illustration for each mini-situation in the story. The child sees how the mushroom gradually grows; at the end of the fairy tale, the author turns to his little readers with the question: “Why did the mushroom grow?” A fairy tale also helps develop logical thinking in a child.

But the hare’s nature does not allow him to carry the fruit to its destination: the good man distributed all the apples to the hungry animals. Forced to return back, the hare meets the wolf. Kindness wins: the hare is home and he is rewarded with a treat from his friends. This book is an excellent tool for teaching the development in a child of such human qualities as kindness, generosity and responsiveness.

Works by S. Marshak for children 2-3 years old

"Mustachioed - Striped"

S. Marshak's book tells about the life of a little kitten. An interesting introduction to the world: the first course, a walk, playing with pencils - all this is so naturally described! The book is a humorous story, but at the same time helps the child understand how to care for pets.

“Where did the sparrow have lunch?”

The story was created for the youngest readers. The book tells about a sparrow who had many friends living in the city zoo. Sparrow, not having his own home, was always full and happy, because his friends treated him to various goodies: carrots, cabbage or bread crumbs. Don’t have a hundred rubles, but have a hundred friends - this is exactly what the Russian proverb says.

"Abstract"

There is an opinion that it is better to learn from the mistakes of others. This idea is clearly illustrated by S. Marshak’s work “Abstract”. A comic story gives a child the opportunity to have a good laugh at the hero and not make his mistakes.

"About everything in the world"

As soon as a child gets acquainted with animals, learns colors and geometric shapes, he has a need to move to a new level: and this stage becomes the study of letters. Book by S.Ya. Marshak allows your child to learn the alphabet in poetic form, which promotes quick memorization. A humorous presentation of material stimulates the child’s desire to learn something new.

D. Kharms “Brave Hedgehog”

D. Kharms’ short poem is loved by kindergarten teachers, because it is written in the form of a riddle, the answer to which children can give by remembering what sounds animals make. V. Levin “Stupid Horse”

The horse - the main character of this poem - decided to take a walk in different galoshes. In addition to reading, the child can also make his own illustrations. Garshin "Frog Traveler"

Garshin's fairy tale "The Frog Traveler" is so loved by children's audiences! Kids enjoy watching the adventures of the boastful frog. The image of a frog clearly demonstrates to kids that boasting is a bad feeling that can lead to trouble, as, incidentally, happened to the main character.

K. Ushinsky “Fairy Tales”

The heroes of Konstantin Ushinsky's fairy tales are forest and domestic animals that are so familiar to children's consciousness. Borrowing plots from Russian folk tales, the author does not lose his individuality, revealing the images of his characters in unusual situations: a wolf befriends a dog, a goose and a crane compare their beauty, two goats prevent each other from crossing a bridge, and a crayfish escapes from a crow. All these stories have a deep moral, which makes K. Ushinsky’s book even more useful to read.

B. Potter "Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton Tail"

Flopsy and Mopsy are the most famous characters of the English writer. Vivid illustrations and atypical images will remain in the memory of your baby. The stories that happened to the heroes will teach kids kindness and responsiveness.

B. Potter "Ukhti-Puhti"

At first glance, the plot is simple: the girl Lucy meets the washerwoman Ukhti-Pukhti, who has her things. But any child will like the author's style. Children even younger than two years old already understand this story. Therefore, this book can become one of the first books that you can read to your baby.

Works by G. Oster for children 2-3 years old

"Kitten named Woof"

The mystery book is very unusual not only in its content. The style of the author Grigory Oster is very original: the writer constantly “plays with the word,” thereby further intriguing young readers: the child wonders what name the kitten has, why the old cat thinks that the name of the kitten can attract trouble. This book perfectly develops the imagination of children. The book also has excellent illustrations, familiar to the entire reading world.

"Middle of the Sausage"

I. Tomakova, poetry

Irina Tomakova is a poetess who has won the love of children and adult audiences. These verses can not only be read before bed, but can be directly used during feeding, walking, playing or bathing. Thematic poems are easy for kids to remember.

A. Barto "Poems"

Agnia Barto is a poetess, without whose work Russian people cannot imagine their childhood! The smallest ones are usually placed at the very beginning of collections of her poems. This is the famous “Our Tanya is crying loudly”, and “The mistress abandoned the bunny”, and “I have a little goat living with me”. This book will be an excellent guide for teaching your child to memorize poems by heart. First, let your child pronounce the endings of the lines, gradually improvising and increasing the volume. The subsequent series of poems is called "Younger Brother". This collection of unique lyrical texts instills in the child a sense of responsibility and love for children.

Vladimir Stepanov “Colorful Desires”

A complex book that includes both poetry and prose. Exciting bright miniature poems about summer, the beach, and spring days continue with pages of voluminous works telling about the lives of children. The final pages are fairy tales that have very original plots: on the pages we will meet a hedgehog taking care of forest animals, a lazy cat, a deceiving goat and others. This book shows children, through examples and anti-examples, options for correct and incorrect behavior.

When your baby grows up, you will be faced with the question of age, then pay attention to the review of books for children of this age on our website.

Among the huge variety of books on bookstore shelves, it is very difficult to decide and choose exactly what you need. Why are some books preferable while others should be put aside? Why are bright cartoon pictures in books not indicators of the “goodness” of the book? We will help you understand the variety of books and choose not only beautiful, but most importantly useful books. We will bring to your attention a list of the best books for your 2-3 year old toddler. Before we talk about useful manuals, let’s touch on the topic of illustrations - an important selection parameter.

What should you consider when choosing?

An important criterion for choosing a book for a 2-3 year old child is high-quality illustrations (we recommend reading:). Why? Because children have a completely different perception of pictures than adults:

  1. Illustrations are a way to understand the meaning of the text; they are points that capture the attention of a little fidget. Thanks to the presence of pictures, mom has the opportunity to read at least one fairy tale. Scientists have proven that illustrations greatly influence a child’s perception of the text as a whole. This feature is typical for all preschool children.
  2. Pictures in books should be as easy to understand as possible. They should not have many objects or complex perspectives. Illustrations should be placed directly next to the text to suggest the meaning of the story. There is a huge variety of book forms for children: toy books (for bathing), screen books and image books.

Clinical and perinatal psychologist, graduated from the Moscow Institute of Perinatal Psychology and Reproductive Psychology and Volgograd State Medical University with a degree in clinical psychology

At two years old, a child has a sufficient reserve of attention and perseverance to listen to short stories and fairy tales, especially if the mother reads, acting a little: in different voices, sometimes quietly, sometimes loudly, withstanding pauses, in general, putting a little soul, and not just pedagogical reflections on the topic “a good mother should read books to her child.”

What will a two-year-old reader like?

1. Folk tales

Short, dynamic, with a series of characters performing the same actions and speaking the same text. “Kolobok”, “Teremok”, “Three Bears”, “Turnip”, “The Fox and the Hare”, “Masha and the Bear”, and, of course, the Ryaba Hen, beloved by children. Familiar animal characters, a soothing narrative tone, a happy ending to almost all stories - all this makes fairy tales understandable and memorable. And when your child learns to speak well, the first thing he will do is come up with and tell new endings to old fairy tales: “the egg fell and did not break,” and “the fox did not eat the bun, he ran away.”

2. Agnia Barto “Toys”

Agnia Barto has many wonderful poems, and it’s better to start getting acquainted with short and understandable stories about toys - a bear, a horse, a truck, a bull, a ball, a drum, an airplane. One of these quatrains will probably be the first poem that your baby recites by heart. And even if in a rare house now you see an elephant shaking its head, or a bull walking on an inclined board, but all children have cars, balls and bears. Toys are exactly the level of concepts that are accessible and close to the little reader. It is not for nothing that this collection of Barto is popular and relevant to this day, although it was first published before the war, in 1936.

3. Samuil Yakovlevich Marshak “Mustachioed and Striped”, “Stupid Mouse”

Samuil Marshak's poetic tales are loved by children for their humor and simplicity. Despite the fact that Marshak constantly calls his characters stupid - “what a stupid kitten!”, “stupid little mouse” - children love these characters very much. I also like the multi-layered nature of these texts. The irony of “Mustachioed and Striped” and the tragic ending of “The Stupid Mouse” are understandable to adults, but children sincerely believe that the kitten is really stupid because he didn’t want to eat radishes and sleep in the crib, and the mouse – he just ran away, the cat didn’t eat him , no no!

4. Tales of Korney Ivanovich Chukovsky

When thinking about what to read to a two-year-old child, one cannot help but think of Chukovsky. Of course! Despite the fact that Korney Chukovsky wrote many critical books and a thick monograph about Nekrasov, he is known exclusively as the author of children's rhymes. A talented person does everything brilliantly, which is why his fairy tales are loved by many generations and are so easily learned by heart. “Telephone”, “Doctor Aibolit”, “Tsokotukha fly”, “Fedorino’s grief” - in addition to the cheerful intonations and the rhythm so beloved by children, there is also an unobtrusive repetition of various thematic groups of words (dishes, animals, insects, even diseases in “Doctor Aibolite"). Your baby's vocabulary will grow before your eyes. My son, at just over two years old, was already babbling “Fedorino’s Woe” by heart and still loves it.

5. Fairy tales and illustrations by Vladimir Suteev

If this surname doesn’t mean anything to you, just look for illustrations on the Internet - and you will immediately remember your own childhood and your favorite books with cartoons, with a caring daddy hare, a stupid bear, a cunning Fox, a grumpy hedgehog, a big mushroom tower and a fat Hippopotamus who I was afraid of vaccinations. “Who said Meow?”, “Uncle Misha”, “Magic Wand”, “Bag of Apples”, “Fisher Cat” and many, many others. Children are extremely fond of Suteev’s drawings and fairy tales - for their kindness and character, for justice: there, evil always remains with its nose, and good triumphs, and good deeds do not go unnoticed. These fairy tales give the child the concept of good and bad, teach friendship, generosity, and friendliness. And besides the quiet, unspoken edification, they also contain the author’s kind smile, calm, sweet humor, which makes Suteev’s fairy tales so beloved by adults and children.

6. Zdenek Miler. Books about Mole

Another favorite character of many generations is the Czech Mole. Everyone remembers funny cartoons about a mole who watches TV, bakes buns, assembles a car, or rides on a sled with a snowman. It’s interesting that Miler came up with Krotika completely by accident: while choosing a character for a new cartoon, he was walking in the forest and tripped over a wormhole. And if Miler had gone a different route, his favorite cartoons and books might not have existed!

Cartoons are also distinguished by the fact that they are wordless, so they do not need to be translated from Czech to Russian; laughter sounds the same everywhere. And the books about Mole are also understandable without words; there are surprisingly “talking” pictures, so the books can be read and retold in your own words for kids. Cozy, smiling, cute Mole becomes the two-year-old reader's favorite friend, and the little one enjoys following his adventures.

7. Ruff babies

Nursery rhymes with illustrations by Vasnetsov. It is no coincidence that I focus on the artist. Yuri Vasnetsov is one of the best and most beloved illustrators of Russian and Soviet children's books. His drawings are reminiscent of a Dymkovo toy - just as colorful and cheerful, without halftones or mutedness, saturated with bright colors, patterns, and ornaments. Baby Ruffs, Grandfather Hedgehog, Egor the Hare... These nursery rhymes should be read to a two-year-old child.

Nice and simple characters, understandable to the baby, drawings filled with emotions. The crows quarreled. Pig Nenila adores her son. Grandfather Hedgehog - alarm, warning - don’t get your feet wet! A cat catching a fish under a bridge is a joy. I remember how alarming and interesting it was for me as a child to watch a fox running with a box against the backdrop of a dark forest. Where is she running, what kind of forest is this, who is lurking there in the dark? And the hedgehog, joyfully looking at the mushrooms that were pouring out of the box, inspired confidence that everything would be fine.

8. Annie Schmidt “Sasha and Masha”

Dutch writer Annie Schmidt wrote her first book about the boy Jip and the girl Janneke back in 1953. These short funny stories have long become classics throughout Europe, and are now being published in Russia. True, the children were renamed in the local manner, Sasha and Masha, well, some people like this option. I read this book to my son with original names, I am for authenticity. A special feature of the series about Sasha and Masha are the black and white illustrations. Monochrome is unusual for children's literature, but children surprisingly love looking at these pictures and do not worry about the lack of colored paints. Funny and educational stories are understandable even to little ones and unobtrusively teach how to play with dolls correctly, why you need to get a haircut and many other simple things.

9. Eric Carle "Seahorse"

Eric Carle is a “living classic” of children's literature. He makes his illustrations in an amazing way: first he paints large sheets of paper, and then cuts out appliqués from them and arranges pictures for his own books. His stories are very simple, made using primitivism and naive techniques, and are very loved by children. It’s not for nothing that all his characters are made deliberately carelessly and are very reminiscent of children’s clumsy drawings.

“The Seahorse” is a book that talks about how little fish are born, and about the amazing fish dads who take care of and protect the eggs. True, this information will be understandable to older children, and two-year-olds are delighted with the illustrations, which contain transparent sheets with painted leaves, corals, algae and stones, behind which a seahorse is hiding from predatory fish. Hiding the skate and finding it was my son's favorite pastime when he was little. And now he is learning the names of fish with interest. A book for growth. Must have!

10. Beatrix Potter "All About Peter Rabbit"

Classics of English children's literature. Rabbits, a cat and kittens, a hedgehog, a baby squirrel, a goose and a fox, a fishing frog - the most ordinary animals and birds live in the fairy tales of Beatrix Potter. They arrange their cozy homes, invite friends to dinner, dress their kids in smart suits - in general, they lead a typically English lifestyle, surprisingly reminiscent of people.
